IAG Group (owner of BA and IB) officially announced that it has firmed up options it held with Airbus for 8 A350-900s + 5 A330-200s for its affiliate Iberia Airlines of Spain as it looks to rapidly fuel its long haul growth potential.
The aircraft will also be used to replace the gas guzzling A343s + A346s as well as to launch potential new routes which have been identified as Tokyo, Doha, Johannesburg, Toronto, Guadalajara, Managua, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Brasilia and AsunciĆ³n.
In December 2015, IB will take delivery of its first new A332 which has 288 seats on board i.e. 19 business class (flat beds) + 269 economy !
